Annapolis Maryland Picture of the Day

It seemed like one of those opportune moments for me as a photographer this morning that I simply could not pass up while strolling along the City waterfront. Certainly this scene of ducks and gulls congregating at the end of Ego Alley in Annapolis during the early hours of the day is common place for a regular visitor to behold here however the image of this particular one perched on a docking post seemed to be holding a bit more symbolism, given the immediate venue, at least for me today.

While the rest of its feathered community members were busy floating on the cold waters of the Alley this gull seemed to be obsessed with watching the Market House. For what seemed to be five minutes or so I observed as it stood there hardly moving its head while looking east across the street towards the still unoccupied historic community market building.

Possibly like some of us they were waiting for it to reopen, but from their standpoint hopeful in that the visitors there will emerge from inside with food to savor and then perhaps this focused observer will once again have the opportunity to feed on the scraps that they might discard along the ground. Of course there could also be another reason in that they do not want to miss the possibility of seeing Mayor Cohen take his plunge off the proverbial plank into the waters of Ego Alley as he fulfills his promise to do so after the reopening date for the market was missed last year.

In any event after taking this picture I casually mentioned to it in passing that I too would be there for that memorable moment in Annapolis politics as well. Kind of like William Donald Schaefer swimming at the National Aquarium in Baltimore years ago but in murkier waters.

Have a great day everyone,

Glenn
